Driven By... Charity Soccer Tournament Recap

On July 7th, 2019 we had our very first Charity Soccer Tournament.

Our 5 team captains, James, Nikki, Marise, Daevon and Ericka brought their teams to play and have a great time! All teams left their hearts on the field! One of the semi final games was a nail-biter and went into overtime followed by penalty shootouts. With an incredible shot by Sabrina Da Silva from Team "2 Kick Chumps", the ball hit the post, bounced off the goalies foot, and went in, advancing 2 Kick Chumps into the finals! In the finals team "2 Kick Chumps" and "Kroos Control 2.0" battled their hearts out, but Kroos Control 2.0 (led by Ericka Barahona) came out on top.

This championship team won a prize basket valued over $1200 donated by several local vendors. As a local business, Driven By... prides itself on supporting local intiatives and businesses. We would like to thank FOE Clothing, Kristina Kreates, Blackwolf Creations, MiLifeFitness, Lashed by Danielaa, Faces by Holly, 6ixsage Studios, FTG Clothing, Boxout Performance Science, TG Kinfit, and Beads for Brains. These vendors contributed a wonderful variety of products and service vouchers for our winners to enjoy.

Also supporting the event was Athletic Eatery, who created a Hydration Table with 4 different types of water (electrolyte water, and cucumber, lime and mint infused water), that kept the athletes hydrated between games. Hydration is integral to the body especially during exercise and is also critical to concussion therapy! Dehydration can cause cramps, increased heart rate, fatigue, impaired concentration and nausea.

Pillar of Health, a partner of Athletic Eatery attended the soccer tournament and supported our athletes by providing massage therapy services, treating all their aches and pains!

At 3:00pm, over 20 children of the Boys & Girls Club of Peel arrived by bus to attend the tournament! Several athletes and volunteers took time to run soccer workshops with the children to help develop their soccer skills! After their workshops, the children got to cheer on their favourite team in the semi-finals!
All participants had nothing but positive feedback to share about our event and our volunteers! Together we raised a final total of $660 for the Boys & Girls Club of Peel.

To all our participants, athletes and volunteers, we wholeheartedly thank you for being a part of the Charity Soccer Tournament. Be proud of yourself for your contribution to your community and the difference you have and will make in the lives of many children.
